I'm Victor. I live in Querétaro, Mexico, where I am designing the future.

Throughout my life, I have always believed that I possess certain characteristics that make me feel special. These are: I can learn whatever I set my mind to, I adapt easily to any situation, and I have the ability to create new things.

Despite having studied gastronomy and working in the restaurant industry for over 5 years, and now professionally dedicating myself to the brewing industry since 2017, I feel a responsibility to do more. I know there will always be something new to learn and create. That's why in 2019, I decided to start over, take a new direction, and study information technologies. What a surprise awaited me!

In my first year of studies, I encountered web development and its fundamentals, enough to start working at a digital marketing agency where I could develop simple web applications. Later, more complex concepts like algorithms, data structures, programming paradigms, software architectures, and others came into play. It was a significant challenge for someone who only had the dream of "creating" without the context of what I really needed to know. Then came the next big obstacle: user interface design and user experience. I was captivated by the idea of understanding and developing user-centered web and mobile applications, without neglecting the importance of aesthetics in the digital products we use.

In 2021, I started developing independently while continuing a Full Stack JavaScript Developer learning path at Platzi, an online learning platform that I will always recommend. For me, it was a great achievement because it meant moving forward not only with my studies but also with independent and personal projects, in addition to my full-time job and personal life. The cost? My hours of sleep. During that period, I averaged about 5 hours of sleep per day. If I were to find myself in the same situation again, I would do it all over.

I know it's great to study, code, design, and enjoy a good beer, but what comes next? Certainly, there are personal projects that I've postponed for a long time and that I could now handle more efficiently without that strict study routine. But my current main interest is not to create for myself but to create solutions for people who have a need that can be addressed with the help of technology and whom I can impact with my work. I plan to continue as a freelance developer and build a community around that.

A few months ago, I read a book called "Ego Is the Enemy," and I could summarize it briefly as follows: if you want to grow in any field, you need to understand three things - there will always be someone more skilled than you, there will always be someone in a situation similar to yours, and there will always be someone who needs to learn from you. Thanks to that, I definitely want to expand my network of contacts to surround myself with people from whom I can learn, compete with, and help.
